A celebration of life is planned for 11:00 AM, May 1, 2017 in the Atrium at Ovid Community Church, 793 East 600 South, Anderson, Indiana, 46013. The church will be open at 10:00 AM, and ALL are welcome to come and celebrate Lynn’s life.

Lynn Ellen Adams, MA (Library Science) June 16, 1951 – April 21, 2017 Middletown, IN – Born June 16, 1951, the first child of Robert P (Bob) Adams, MA (Music Education) and Mary E Starkey Adams RN, MA (Public Health) at Ball Memorial Hospital, in Muncie, Indiana while they were finishing their college at Ball State Teacher’s College and living in the FC Ball Mansion that had been converted into married student housing.

As a child, Lynn and her parents moved several times, as teaching jobs were available; including Troy, OH, and Wabash, IN, where Lynn started school, and was joined in this life by three siblings; CJ, Gail & Jody. The next move was to Muncie, IN, where Lynn attended, Westview Elementary, Emerson Elementary, McKinley Jr High School, and graduated in 1969 from Muncie Central High School. During those formative years, a love of music and reading was developed along with an appreciation of family, as her parents and both paternal grandparents (Carl & Jo Adams), and maternal grandparents (Joe & Lena Starkey), always seemed to provide opportunities to feel loved from Florida to the lakes of northern Indiana.

After high school, Lynn started her college at Ball State, then transferred to Indiana University, where she finished her undergraduate work and earned a Master’s Degree in Library Science, a time that saw her love for reading develop into a passion, which she nurtured in herself and others throughout her life.

Lynn was no stranger to moves, as her career took her to many positions in Indiana & Kentucky, even a brief stay in Florida. She ended her career after several years as a Records Archivist for the State of Indiana, from which she retired in 2016.

Lynn’s love of music kept her active in choir most of her adult life, including choir at Life Journey Church, until she moved out of the area in 2015, and her love of reading is apparent if for no other reason than the immense collection of books she amassed through the years.

Lynn’s passion for gardening was the catalyst that made her a homeowner for the first time in 2015, and she moved ‘home’ to Middletown, IN, where she pursued her passion for gardening, and love of animals, with her partner/friend, Sammy. The transformation of the property was remarkable, as they made it ‘home’… Lynn’s joy in gardening was apparent to all who ever saw her raised gardens, or received any of her canned or frozen fruits and vegetables.

Lynn’s search for ‘home’ ended in joy when she experienced ‘home’ here in this life at her place in Middletown, and now her faith has helped her truly find ‘home’, tending her garden and singing, probably even doing some crocheting and fishing too, all day, everyday in heaven.

Lynn’s friends & family will miss her friendship, passion, love, wit, sometimes blunt honesty, even stubbornness and cynical statements, along with her passion for political discussion, love for all things literary, singing, generous heart and maybe most of all her ability to make us feel a little lighthearted, of course that would be after her coffee, which, according to Lynn, ‘was for our protection’!

Lynn was predeceased by her dad and grandparents, and is survived by her partner/friend – Sherie (Sammy) Wellman, along with Lynn’s mother – Mary Ellen Starkey Adams of Kimmell, IN, Lynn’s three siblings; Robert C J (Sharon) Adams of Pendleton, Indiana, Gail Susan Adams of Daytona Beach, Florida, and Nancy Jo (Jody) Adams (Bruce) Sherwood of Summerville, South Carolina. Several Aunts and an Uncle; Lois Shehorn Starkey of Mount Vernon, IL, Nancy Starkey (Fred) Larson of Hobart, Indiana, Jane Starkey Cowan of Sheperdsville, Kentucky, Shirley Starkey Hile of Kimmell, Indiana, Several nephews; Jason (Nici) Adams, Nick Adams, Brad (Cassie) Adams, James (Michelle) Sherwood, Ben (Lynn) Sherwood, and Josh (Jessica) Sherwood, and scores of cousins and many other extended family and great friends.

Arrangements entrusted to Indiana Funeral Care.
